China emerges as the NEXT MICE Powerhouse

China continues to be in the limelight as the world's most exciting MICE destination. In fact, it has been identified as one of two countries in ASIA, the other being INDIA, making a big impact on the MICE global stage.

 

INTERESTING FACTS

+The UN World Tourism Organisation estimates China s tourism sector to grow annualy by 12, 8 per cent, reaching 100 million by 2020.

+China is currently the third largest business travel market, behind UK and USA. 

+The Chinese MICE sector is growing at an annual rate of 20 per cent.

+ By 2020, China will become the largest source of international tourism and the number one travel destination, and it will have the largest domestic tourism market in the world.

+China has more than 190 000 social associations and the value of their annual conferences exceeds 100 billion yuan.

+There are more than 200 million Chinese today that are financially able to travel overseas.

+In 2007, China held over 5 400 exhibitions and conferences, with the total area for exhibitions or conferences reaching 2, 4 million square metres, ranking third in the world.
